My Story

Welcome to Urban Farm Pet Treats! Thank you for checking us out!
I’m Kevin Knapp, the founder of Urban Farm Pet Treats. I created this company to provide the best life possible for my dogs while contributing to reducing the carbon footprint in the pet industry.
Pets have always been a big part of my life. I was just eight years old when I “rescued’ my first dog. A terrier pup tied up outside a hatchery in the Minnesota farm town where I grew up. I had to become a grownup myself before I could see that the dog had actually rescued me. The many dogs I have “rescued” since, have also brought me immeasurable love and joy, continuing to rescue me.
Coronavirus attacked NYC, my home, in March 2020. Facing unemployment and an uncertain future, I wanted to create something I had a passion about. I have raised my dogs on a “raw” diet with great success. My thought was to take select healthy ingredients and bake them into something crunchy and delicious.
While doing research for Urban Farm Pet Treats, I stumbled across statistics on the environmental impact of the pet industry. Did you know a medium size dog has a larger carbon footprint than a human being? That pets are responsible for up to thirty percent of the environmental impact of meat production? These statistics were astonishing to me. I had no idea!
So………
With a background in professional baking, I started Urban Farm Pet Treats. I began by using select sustainable ingredients, such as chickpeas, oats, pumpkin, parsley, flax seed and sustainable animal proteins like fish and fowl. I have chosen products that are high in nutrition, easily digestible and promote wellness in your dog all while reducing our carbon footprint in the pet industry.
One positive side effect of the coronavirus pandemic? More people have more dogs. These “best friends” give us unconditional love. The least we can do is give back with a treat that smells good, tastes good, and is good. My treats are packed with goodness and are inspired not only by my gratitude but also my skills as a pastry chef. Your dogs will taste the love.
